Wonderful 😊 if anyone is thinking about being confirmed, just ask Rev Juliet 👌😉‘You should never stop trying new things and this is a very special new thing’ said 95 year old Mavis Lindstrom, who was confirmed in Bradford on Avon at the weekend. After decades spent working in the theatre and bringing up three children, Mavis only started going to church regularly a few years ago with friends. But it was only after she moved to Bradford on Avon, and began attending Holy Trinity, that she was asked to think about getting confirmed. In the Church of England, confirmation is a special church service in which a person confirms for themselves the promises that were made for them as a child when they were baptized. Depending on the approach of the church, some people will only take Holy Communion for the first time following confirmation.Mavis went to church as a child, but it was just “habit” and “I didn’t think about it seriously” she says.“For years and years, decades, if anyone asked, do you believe in God I would have said, oh yes, but it didn’t mean anything – I didn’t pray, or think about it, or go to church.”It was only when going to church with friends at Holy Trinity she began to feel what she describes a “trace of envy for the light that shone from these people because of their faith”. Pet Blessing - All welcome Rainbow Bridge for names of our beloved ones, with candles.
www.facebook.com/share/p/NPwiX9cCaKGXJG8E/?mibextid=WC7FNeAs a seaside town the RNLI plays a vital role in Weymouth, ensuring everyone is safe in the water. The Lifeboats in Weymouth attract visitors, who make the short walk along the North harbourside, to see the beloved Ernest and Mabel, to have photos picture taken beside the famous lifesaving vessel. Revd Juliet, the Vicar of Holy Trinity Weymouth, and Chaplain of RNLI Weymouth, led the ‘Blessing of the Boats’ service at the end of July, in which the whole community gathered.A crew helmet was used as the vessel for water to bless the boats! Blessed, for their going out and coming in and for all ‘who sail in them’. This blessing was for those who work and volunteer for the RNLI, for love and protection as they give their lives to this amazing service. Revd Juliet said ‘People look up at Holy Trinity Church and see a place of hope. We pray for the town each and every Sunday, along with prayers for the RNLI. We bless and set apart things that are to be made holy for God. What a privilege to be able to do this, in our community and for our crew.’
