Music for a Summer’s Evening With Vox Serenata
Our monthly Friday concert series continues with more musical entertainment. This concert will have a mixed programme of music throughout the evening by Vox Serenata.
These young people are a vocal group set up by two childhood friends to explore the wealth of sacred and secular music, accompanied and a capella, from the Renaissance to the present day. In 2016, the quartet decided upon the name, Vox Serenata, derived from the Italian for serene but also relating to the musical serenade.
Over the past year, they have performed evening concerts at several Dorset churches, and have been ‘quartet-in-residence’ for weddings and other one-off events. All the singers have a wealth of musical experience across a broad stylistic spectrum, from classical to jazz to pop. They have performed chorally, as soloists, and include instrumentalists and conductors.
Repertoire has included Tallis, Mozart, Sullivan, through to contemporary composers such as Ola Gjeilo and John Rutter, as well as arrangements of pop, jazz and folk classics.
The singers are Hayley England, Emma Dorey, Michael Aitkenhead & Robert Dishington.
Food and refreshments will also be available. This is another free evening concert with donations to the church greatly accepted. No tickets necessary, please turn up on the night. However if you require a guaranteed seat we advise you to turn up early.
