Thought for the Week 15 Apr 18

It is such a pity that we tend to see the resurrection as something which belongs to another time and another place - Palestine of two thousand years ago. If the Easter proclamation is true, then we too can encounter the risen Christ. He will not insulate us from reality. He will not lift us out of the tears, the sweat and grime of our humanity to take us into a dream-world, but he will be with us where we are, helping us to give meaning and beauty to our lives, especially to the painful and dark parts. Faith in the Market Place

Fancy choosing a topical subject and discussing it in a group? How do we relate our faith to what is happening around us? You choose a subject and we can discuss over refreshments. The suggestion is once a month at Gracewell after the Wednesday Eucharist for an hour. We all live in the Market Place of our communities. Come and say what you think and how you feel! If you are interested, sign the list at the back of Holy Trinity church or phone email or tell Father Andrew (see "Contact Us" page).

Vicar’s letter for April 2018

“WE HAVE JUST completed the greatest celebration of the Christian year: the Feast of Easter. Now we hear the wonderful stories of how Jesus appeared to so many different people after his resurrection: proof indeed that, as he promised, he has risen from the dead. We are Easter people who share in the new life which Jesus has won for us and so we boldly say: ‘Alleluia, Christ is risen! He is risen indeed, alleluia!’.”

    Christian Aid Week 13 - 19 May 2018

This year Holy Trinity is supporting Christian Aid Week in several different ways. You can help:

    I WITNESS - 30th April until 20th May 2018

A photographic exhibition in Holy Trinity Church depicting Christian Aid’s work in Haiti. Continuing relief work and the provision of earthquake resistant homes is the focus for Christian Aid Week this year. Come and see the exhibition but help by giving up a little of your time to steward so that we can keep the church open and welcome as many people as possible to the exhibition.

    BIG BREKKIE - Saturday 19th May 2018 9 – 11am

Join us for a delicious ‘continental style’ breakfast and meet speaker Fiona Daborn. Tickets £3.00

    BUCKET COLLECTION ON THE TOWN BRIDGE - Saturday 19th May 2018 10 – 4pm

This was very successful last year. We need 2 people at a time to stand for 1 or 2 hours on the Bridge with a large collecting bucket and people will come to you to donate.

    HOUSE TO HOUSE COLLECTIONS

It would be really good to continue this tradition as much as we can as it is a good way of meeting the people of the parish. If you are a regular collector and happy to continue please let us know. Marcia Headon and Linda Perry
