Easter Club 2017

This year's Easter Club was wonderful - both very creative, and enjoyable. The theme for the week was 'Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again'.

The youngsters learned about the first Easter Week, the ascension and Christ’s promise to return.
Flair produced a moving drama with the children about the entry into Jerusalem, clearing the temple, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. It was performed at the Good Friday morning service at St Nicholas, and was much complimented by the congregation.    As usual there were lots of arts and crafts, much baking, the traditional trip to Moors Valley Country Park, a chip lunch, hat contest and the egg hunt.
I would like to thank all those who helped during the week, those who helped with preparation and gathering resources, and those who prayed.
Thank you so much.

Pastoral Care for St Nicholas Congregation

Father Andrew has successfully secured an alternative venue for our Wednesday Eucharist and a once a month Sunday Service (for those members of St Nicholas who are unable to get to Holy Trinity). We are grateful to Gracewell Community of Weymouth who have offered to accommodate us in one of their small community rooms. As from Wednesday 7th March we will continue to share together in the Eucharist at 10am at Gracewell, which is next to Holy Trinity School, Cross Road. During Lent this will be followed by our Lent Course. The first Sunday Service will be on Easter Day at 9am and thereafter on the fourth Sunday of each month at 9am.

Nota Bene Singers Music for Choir and Organ

In 2002, the group now known as the Nota Bene Singers was founded by Gay Corran a local resident, John Holloway the Musical Director and Ian Fox organist.

The group meet in Lulworth twice a year; with singers coming from all parts of the country to rehearse for a weekend culminating in a Festal Service in West Lulworth. They have toured twice in France, performing in Cathedrals and churches around Lectoure in the Gers region.

I am therefore delighted to say that as a special treat they will perform for us in Holy Trinity Church on Sunday 18 February at 6pm when we shall hear them sing a varied programme of music – encompassing Stanford, Durefle, Jenkins, Mendelssohn, Bach and Sumison - and enjoy socialising with them over a finger buffet afterwards.

They will rehearse in church on Friday evening and all day Saturday (16-17 Feb).

Tickets - £10 for the concert and £15 for the concert and buffet – are available from Janet Hall who has arranged this event.

The singers and organist are covering all their costs and giving their services free which means all profits go to Holy Trinity.

    Traidcraft BIG BREW 2017

    Holy Trinity Church
    Saturday 3rd March 2017
    From 10.00 – 3.00

Once again we will be marking Fairtrade Fortnight by holding a Big Brew in the church. Join us for a cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee and a slice of delicious homemade cake for just £2.00.

All proceeds will go towards the work of Traidcraft Exchange, supporting their ‘Hidden Entrepreneur’ Appeal which focuses on people in developing countries who have the talent and determination to succeed, but lack the opportunity.

As an extra bonus, this year every donation will be matched by the UK Government meaning twice as much money goes to help people build businesses and create a better future for their families and communities.
