Easter Club 2017

This year's Easter Club was wonderful - both very creative, and enjoyable. The theme for the week was 'Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again'.

The youngsters learned about the first Easter Week, the ascension and Christ’s promise to return.
Flair produced a moving drama with the children about the entry into Jerusalem, clearing the temple, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. It was performed at the Good Friday morning service at St Nicholas, and was much complimented by the congregation.    As usual there were lots of arts and crafts, much baking, the traditional trip to Moors Valley Country Park, a chip lunch, hat contest and the egg hunt.
I would like to thank all those who helped during the week, those who helped with preparation and gathering resources, and those who prayed.
Thank you so much.

    Holy Trinity Church Roof

All the scaffolding came down at the end of June and we can report that the roof is now, as far as we are aware, waterproof. This of course came with a huge cost but needed to be done. We are now applying for grants to see if we can cover more of the cost of £40.000 to pay for it. Last December we received £10,000 from the Muton Trust for which we are extremely grateful; and we hope to be successful this November for a further grant of £8,000. Any kind donations thankfully received! We are about £12,000 short of our target to replenish our much diminished funds.. IF the sale of St Nicholas goes without a hitch then the PCC has agreed to make up the shortfall from the sale proceeds.

Vicar’s letter for October 2018

“I’m a country person at heart! I was brought up in a small country town in North Cornwall with a thriving market each week. Sadly it is all now long gone. But as children my brothers and I used to love to go to the livestock market and watch all the farmers bringing their livestock and produce to market. At Harvest thanksgiving we would take our harvest gifts to church and I remember a wonderful harvest choral evensong and a hearty harvest supper which everybody was involved with.”
