The Strollers in June

The weather gods smiled on us during our June circular walk from Beer to Branscombe.

Some members enjoyed the delights of Beer during the morning, while 16 strollers walked over Beer Head and down the steep steps for coffee at the beach café in Branscombe.  We returned via the undercliff for lunch at the Anchor Inn.  Later in the afternoon, a cream tea awaited us at St Michael’s Church, Beer provided by Linda and Charles Deremaux’s friends Ann and John Vaughan who had joined us for our morning walk.  Many thanks to Linda and Charles for organising a great day out. It’s very likely that we’ll return to the Beer area in 2011!!

The Strollers will next meet on Saturday 17th July at the Wise Man, West Stafford.  We shall start at 10.00am for a second shot at the walk through the water meadows which was abandoned last year due to some very wet weather!  Here’s hoping for better luck this time.  Please sign up as usual on the notice in the Organ Transept.

Our August meeting on the 14th will be an afternoon stroll on Portland to avoid the holiday traffic, probably finishing with afternoon tea at the Lobster Pot.

Watch the pew sheet as usual for the exact start time and place.

Vicar’s letter for May 2012

“It may have passed you by because it was not widely reported in the news, but in the first few months of 2012 the ordinary people of the Church of England flexed their muscles! The leaders of the Anglican Communion of Churches asked the Church of England to sign up to something called the Anglican Communion Covenant. ”
