Sociable Strollers

The Sociable Strollers encountered enough mud to last the whole season long when they embarked on their first walk of the season on Easter Monday. Setting off from the Sunray, at Osmington, our intrepid walkers set off in good spirits towards Sutton Poyntz, the mud on this stretch barely lapping at their laces! Then on up the hill towards the White Horse and drier ground, offering spectacular views of Weymouth Bay and the coastline towards Bridport.

Strollers at Osmington

However, once past the point of no return, descending into Osmington and with the promise of a hearty lunch spurring them on, they were faced with a positive quagmire of the “brown and goopy”, which insinuated itself through eyelets, over boot tops and generally managed to reach those parts which other mud cannot reach!  Nothing daunted, they ploughed on and were rewarded with a lunch to satisfy the heartiest appetite.  Amazingly, a good time was had by all and the next walk, on May 8th, is eagerly anticipated.

Our May walk will be from Athelhampton House at 10.00 am with lunch at the Blue Vinny in Puddletown;  so please order your lunch at the pub before arriving at Athelhampton.  Please sign up on the list in the Organ Transept if you wish to join us so we can let the pub know our numbers.  - all are welcome.

Please note that the date of our July stroll has been changed from Saturday 10th to Saturday 17th. Details of the venue will follow in due course.

Vicar’s letter for May 2012

“It may have passed you by because it was not widely reported in the news, but in the first few months of 2012 the ordinary people of the Church of England flexed their muscles! The leaders of the Anglican Communion of Churches asked the Church of England to sign up to something called the Anglican Communion Covenant. ”
