September Strollers

The calendar was telling us it was autumn but the weather was firmly set to “summer” as a large group of Strollers met to enjoy the glorious sunshine on our walk around the area to the north of Dorchester.

We met at The Sun at Lower Burton and headed off to higher ground, which afforded fine views back over Poundbury – what a big development that has become!  The parched landscape was testimony to the dry September we have had.  We were, as ever, more than ready for the excellent fare laid on for us at The Sun and felt we had earned every mouthful, as we had negotiated a fairly steep hill at one point!

The next walk will be on Saturday October 24th, and will start from Wool.  This will be a slightly longer walk than usual, at about 4 ½ miles, but is easy going and quite flat, with just one stile.  Watch the pew sheet for details and please sign up on the sheet in the Organ Transept when it appears!  Only 2 more walks this year, so make an effort to come and join us – you won’t regret it!!

Vicar’s letter for February 2012

“‘There’s no place like home’ goes the old song and it is surely true that for virtually everyone home is important. If we’ve been away for a long time we are really eager to get back. One of the worst punishments that was handed down in the past was exile.”
