A message from Ruth
I am taking this opportunity to thank you all for attending the Requiem Mass in celebration of Jack’s life and for the wonderful support I have received in my bereavement.
I know it will be impossible to thank everyone personally for the wonderful cards, letters and messages of encouragement that have helped me so much in recent days, though I will endeavour to do so.
Jack and I have been richly blessed and fulfilled throughout our 31 years of marriage together and I am eternally grateful for having had the privilege of caring for him in recent years as he has cared for me.
The experience of loss which I now share with many others is helping me to realise that the pain of separation is but a small price to pay for all the love and happiness Jack and I have enjoyed together. I know that I am strengthened by the love of God and his church to continue living and working for him.

It doesn’t seem so long ago that I was writing for the parish magazine to tell you a little about your new curate and the rest of the family, before we arrived; now I am writing as we are leaving – my last Sunday with you will be on 12 February and we move a day or two after that.

The Archbishop of Canterbury arrived on pilgrimage on January 27th. Here with a small group of clergy and laity, the Archbishop began his pilgrimage in the Galilee. He also met with the local and regional clergy, heads of churches and a number of important civil leaders at St. Margaret’s Guest House in Nazareth.
