Sociable Strollers Programme for 2008

We had such a favourable response last year when we issued all the proposed dates for the Strollers walks that we have decided to do the same again this year.

So, put these dates in your diary and plan to join us as we explore our beautiful countryside – and sample some new pubs along the way!  Talk to Anne, Judy or Liz if you need transport.

We start on Easter Monday, 24 March (see below).  The others are all Saturdays: we will meet mid-morning and walk, then have lunch.  More details will be in the appropriate pew-sheets.

19 April, 24 May, 21 June,

In July there are a lot of social activities planned, so we will probably just do a Sunday afternoon walk on Portland, maybe having afternoon tea at the Lobster Pot.  The date will be announced nearer the time, to fit in with all the other events.

30 August, 20 September, 11 October, and 15 November

Easter Monday walk
This has become something of a tradition, so do think about joining us, even if you haven’t before.  The venue this year is The Thimble Inn, in Piddlehinton.  Because it’s a busy day for them, and because of the numbers involved (often around 30-40 people), the pub is understandably unwilling to accept a booking unless we guarantee to turn up – no crying off if the weather’s bad!  So, we will put up a notice in the Organ Transept for you to sign; once we have given the numbers to the pub, you are promising to go and eat, regardless of the weather, even if we don’t walk.  Let’s make it another great Easter Monday outing!!

Vicar’s letter for January 2009

““Happy New Year” is the traditional greeting at this time of year. But the world scarcely looks a very happy place, does it? 2008 didn’t turn out too well, did it? ”
